PROGRAMS AND OPPORTUNITIES

These programs are sponsored by Door County Home and Community Education.  Programs are free and open to the general public.  Please call to register one week in advance of the program date — 920-746-2260.

  • BETTER BRAIN HEALTHThursday, September 20, 1:30-2:30 pm
    • You are invited to attend a FREE one-hour educational session, presented by Mary Ellen Smith, a registered nurse, who will teach participants what they can do to lower their dementia risk and keep their brains healthy. The program will cover common diseases that cause dementia, other conditions that mimic dementia, signs and symptoms, risk factors, strategies to maintain a healthy brain (physical health, nutrition, mental stimulation, social engagement), and available resources. “Better Brian Health” will be presented on Thursday, September 20, 1:30-2:30 pm, in the Peninsula Room, on the first floor of the Government Center in Sturgeon Bay. This program is part of GrapeVine, which trains nurses to lead health education sessions in their communities. GrapeVine is a part of the Wisconsin Women’s Health Foundation, a statewide non-profit that strives to innovate, impact and improve women’s health. This program is being hosted by Door County Home and Community Education (HCE).  Participants receive free information and incentives and is open to the public.
